Review

The Plot

The show starts with the introduction of Hughie campbell, who works at an electronics shop, he is a common man whose girlfriend got accidentally killed by A-train, a superhero who is the fastest man on earth, while he was on a mission. Hughie was offered a 45000$ compensation by the Vought , an institution which has more than 200 superheroes and also the Seven, who are the strongest among all of them. When Hughie refuses to take the money Billy butcher meets Hughie and they plan on taking over the Seven and the Vought.  Billy butcher also has some history with the seven and specifically with Homelander, the greatest superhero of the world.
As the story progresses another important character named Annie is introduced, she is a girl who wishes to join the seven with the purpose of helping people throughout the world. She has the power of electricity and hence she gains her superhero name - Starlight. Annie, who was a die hard fan of the seven and had the childhood dream of joining them in the pursuit of helping the world get rid of its problems, eventually starts resenting the job after she is raped on the first day of her job by The Deep, a major part of the Seven.
The series primarily focuses on two groups: the Seven, Vought International's premier superhero team, and the titular Boys, vigilantes looking to keep the corrupted heroes under control.
The Boys are led by Billy Butcher, who despises all superpowered people, and the Seven are led by the egotistical and unstable Homelander. As a conflict ensues between the two groups, the series also follows the new members of each team: Hugh "Hughie" Campbell of the Boys, who joins the vigilantes after his girlfriend is killed by one of the Seven; and Annie January / Starlight of the Seven, a young and hopeful heroine forced to face the truth about the heroes she admires.
Performances

Most of the actors of the show have done a pretty decent job on the screen. Even the side characters like Mother's Milk and Hughie's father were excellent. However the standout performances were those of Antony Starr and Karl Urban, they were absolutely breathtaking in their roles of The Homelander and Billy Butcher. Jack Quaid and Erin Moriarty were also very good on screen.

Few words for the Show

In one word this show can be labelled as a must watch show, with only 8 episodes in its first season this is a perfect show for a full day binge watching during the weekends. This is not any other superhero show which revolves around an almost perfect superhero who takes his missions to save the world from super villainous powers. instead it takes the audience into the dark world of superpower and money where absolutely no one is either ethical or works for humanity. This is a more real take on the concept of superpower and superheroes than any other superhero franchise like the Marvel or DC.
The fact that Homelander, the world's strongest hero is one of the darkest character of the show tells a lot about the depth and dimensions of the series.

Things I liked about the series
  • Definitely the performances of the crew of the film, special mention to the characters of billy butcher and homelander
  • The plot of the show
  • Absolutely amazing camerawork
Things i did not liked in the series
  • Nothing

A MUST WATCH.......
